12 New Year’s Resolutions You Should Make for Your Business and Employees in 2024

The New Year is upon us, and as 2023 draws to a close it is time for you and your employees to make some New Year’s Resolutions. If you really want your company to improve over the next year, here are 12 New Year’s resolutions you should make for your business in 2024.

  1. Write Goals and Share them with Entire Company

As you think about the things you want to accomplish over the next year, write your goals and resolutions and then share those goals with the entire company. You never know, someone might know how to improve one of those goals. Or someone may have an idea on accomplishing something more quickly and effectively. Sharing the company goals also helps employees to feel more involved and invested in the overall accomplishments of the business. When the business succeeds, everyone succeeds!

  1. Ask for Help and Ideas in Achieving Goals for 2024

Once you have shared your goals and resolutions for 2024, ask for help and ideas on how the company can achieve those goals. 50 minds are better than one or two, ask for help and ideas and you will be amazed at the awesome ideas your coworkers and employees have for the company.

  1. Build a Better Company Culture

Fear is a terrible thing to feel while at work. Fear does not stimulate creativity, growth, or ingenuity. “When people are frightened, they don’t perform well… We all know that when we are happy and productive, we work more effectively.” Build a better company culture where your employees feel comfortable and happy. You can do this by encouraging comments, feedback, and leadership. Talk to your employees and really listen to their ideas and they will feel more appreciated and work harder.

  1. Build a Better Environment

Try to build a better environment for your company, encourage everyone to help with the cleanliness of the office and have regular meetings in which you talk about everyone’s responsibility to keep up the morale and environment of the company.

  1. Encourage Feedback and Insight from Employees

As you talk to your employees, encourage feedback, questions, and insight. You will probably get your best ideas from the employees who are on the ground floor of the business doing the day-to-day tasks.

  1. Listen

When your employees talk, listen. Listen and act on whatever it is they say if at all possible.

  1. Reward Good Ideas

As your employees feel more comfortable and start sharing thoughts and ideas, be ready to reward good ideas. It doesn’t have to be a big thing; just a kind word of praise or encouragement goes a long way.

  1. Improve Social Media/Blog

If your social media and company blog are not being updated, make it a goal in 2024 to update them regularly.

  1. Encourage Employee Engagement on Social Media

If your employees do not know you have social media sites for the company, how is anyone else supposed to know or care? Encourage your employees to like, post, comment, and share things from the company social media and blog pages. You can even set aside a few minutes a week precisely for this reason.

  1. Encourage Employees and Coworkers to Make Personal Goals

Employees who have personal goals and resolutions tend to be more happy and productive. At the beginning of the year hold a meeting and allow everyone to write their own personal goals for the year.

  1. Check up on Goals

The goals and resolutions for the company and for your employees’ personal lives need to be checked on regularly. Have regular meetings in which you ask everyone how they think they are doing on the company and personal goals.

  1. Provide More Leadership Opportunities

Don’t do everything yourself, try to delegate more and provide leadership opportunities for more of your employees.
