Your Questions Answered

How do I have a difficult conversation with my loved one about moving to assisted living?

What do I need to know or do now to prepare myself for navigating the long-term healthcare system?

What do I need to watch out for if I think my parent is developing dementia?

Our Panelists will drill down into these questions and more.

Gain Caregiving Tactics

You know that family caregiving is difficult or will be difficult for most families.

Now it’s time for you to gather tactics and expert information on what you don’t know, what to expect, and how to take steps now in order to help avoid heartache later.

Learn How to Start the Conversation

Caregiving is one of the most important issues our society isn’t talking about.

Starting the conversation with knowledge and insights from those that practice in the field could make all the difference.

A Clearer Path Forward

Let’s face it, the long-term healthcare system is complex — and often the patient’s family must jump through many hoops to get to the right caregiving destination.

JOYN panelists will address your questions and discuss family caregiving planning tips that keep the two most important groups at the forefront of the conversationthe patient and their family.

Meet Our Panelists

Stuart Zola, PhD

Director, Yerkes Research Center

Professor Emeritus, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Emory University School of Medicine

Co-Director, Emory Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center

Co-Founder and Chief Science Officer, MapHabit, Inc.

One of the nation’s leading neuroscientists, Stuart Zola, PhD, has contributed valuable insights into how the brain organizes memory and how this process relates to memory problems, such as amnesia. In 2009, the American Association for the Advancement of Science named him a fellow for his “distinguished contributions in neuroscience, including the delineation of the brain’s memory system, and for communicating the importance and excitement of science to the lay public.” Dr. Zola is a leader in communicating science and research to the general public.

Dr. Zola’s research has contributed significant insights into the memory loss in humans that results from head trauma and characterizes progressive diseases, such as mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and Alzheimer’s. His research has also provided knowledge about less-severe memory problems that often accompany depression, chronic stress and normal aging.
